The Minutemen Collection

The Minutemen Collection included several #1 and #2 sets on the PSA Registry. The Sweet Caporal Domino Disk series features each player with two different pictures and any one of three possible background colors. Consider that the amount of dots on the reverse side domino is not exclusive to the player and the number of different variations is virtually endless. However, collecting each player without regard to the background color or domino arrangement is considered a complete set, and this 129-count compilation stands at the pinnacle of the PSA Set Registry, ranked #1 with an overall GPA of 6.889. The #2 set on the Registry lagged far behind.

Many collectors in the hobby are under the mistaken impression that the 1961 Topps collection is "easy" to assemble in high-grade compared to other Topps sets of the decade. Of course, the statistics prove otherwise. With just over 6% of all 1961 Topps submissions earning a grade of PSA 9 and only 0.24% (561 cards total) claiming GEM MINT PSA 10 status, the 1961 Topps set is tougher in elite grade than every set from 1964 through 1969.
