Mile High Card Company Completes Sale of T206 Honus Wagner Card For World Record $3.25M

Castle Rock, CO - Mile High Card Company is proud to announce the private sale of a PSA 3 graded 1909-11 T206 Honus Wagner card. The sale price of $3.25M not only shatters the record for a card in the grade but also eclipses the $3.12M price tag for the legendary PSA 5 (MC) “Jumbo” Wagner purchased in 2016 as the highest-price ever paid. “We’ve seen a lot of high-profile cards leave our office to record prices this year, but to hold the record for 1909-11 T206 Wagner sales at three different grade levels as well as the highest price ever paid … that’s something we’re especially proud of” said MHCC President and CEO Brian Drent. For the third time in less than a year, MHCC has sold a 1909-11 T206 Honus Wagner card and set a new price record in the process. In the October, 2019 MHCC auction, a PSA 2 example of baseball’s most beloved card sold for a chart-topping $1.326M, and a PSA 1 specimen changed hands in last month’s auction for just under $1.17M, also the top price ever paid for the grade.

MHCC is no stranger to setting price records with the rarest and most coveted material in the hobby. In addition to the T206 Wagner PSA 1, the September auction closed with a 1909-11 T206 Ty Cobb Ty Cobb Back PSA 4.5 VG/EX+, The Highest Graded Example from the Lucky 7 Find, netting $894,250 and a pair of 1933 Goudey #181 Babe Ruth PSA 8 NM/MT now sharing the top spot at $96,576. Other highlights from the auction were a 1948 Bowman Nearly Complete Wax Box (18/24) BBCE, the grand prize of the “The Beer Box Find”, that closed at $368,126, a 1968 Mickey Mantle Game Used Jersey MEARS A9.5, Sports Investors, JSA, likely from his final game in major-league baseball, that fetched $465,50, and a 1933 Goudey #149 Babe Ruth PSA 8 NM/MT that closed at a record price of $153,885.

MHCC’s next auction is in December with a consignment cutoff date of October 26th, so you still have time.
