Offered for your bidding pleasure is one of the finest E96 sets ever assembled. Produced in 1910 by the Philadelphia Caramel Company out of Camden, NJ, this appropriately candy-colored 30-card issue is a continuation of the similarly designed 25-card E95 set of the previous year and remains one of the most condition sensitive candy issues every produced, with only three PSA NM 7's crowning the relatively scarce population report. And this of course makes sense, as caramel cards, unlike tobacco cards, were primarily marketed to children, whose grimy fingers and treasure-laden pockets were a far cry from the albums and boxes employed to house most tobacco card collections. Although unregistered, the advanced 3.867 GPA of the offered assembly would rank second on the Current and All Time Finest PSA Set Registry leader boards, significantly ahead of the third runner up, commanded by one of the most prominent collections in the world. Importantly, several of the included cards are either unsurpassed in their grades at PSA or stand alone as Pop 1's. PSA 6 EX/MT: Herzog (Pop 1), Lajoie (HOF; Pop 1), Murray, Tinker (HOF). PSA 5 EX: Adams (Pop 1), Arrelanes, Karger, Meyers, Spencer (Pop 1). PSA 4 VG/EX: Brown (HOF), Davis, Delehanty, Dooin, Gibson, Marquard (HOF), McQuillan, Pfiester, Rucker. PSA 3 VG: Ames, Clarke (HOF), Mack (HOF), Mowrey, Thomas. PSA 2 GOOD: Baker (HOF), Kling. SGC 40 VG 3: Jennings (HOF), Rossman. SGC 30 GOOD 2: Donovan, Konetchy, Mullin. A distinguished set for the advanced caramel collector.
