The recent surge in the demand for vintage rookie cards of Hall of Famers has caused the 1954 Topps debut pasteboard of Hank Aaron to skyrocket at virtually every grade level.
The presented example of "Hammerin' Hank's" debut card has been assessed at PSA 6 but displays virtues superior to its grade that counteract the centering bias toward the right side. The strong central image with its robust orange backdrop and deep blue color is so entrancing that it immediately forces your attention to the brightness of the stark white borders. The corners and edges are accurate at EX/MT and the reverse is not nearly as toned on the white canvas as most. The green edges show minimal chipping you'd expect, but not as pronounced as many others in this grading tier. A satisfying Aaron rookie that represents the EX/MT 6 class very well.
