Much like the 1952 Topps baseball card series, when 1986 Fleer basketball wax packs first hit the store shelves, no one could have predicted that they would one day be among the most coveted items of unopened material in the hobby. Of course, Michael Jordan and a cast of fellow future Hall of Famers had everything to do with that. But in addition to the cards, an 11-item sticker insert series was introduced at one sticker per pack, and it turns out they're even tougher to find in high-grade. If the centering doesn't get you, the wax residue from being on the bottom of the pack just inside the seal often does. The featured Michael Jordan sticker shows a slight bit of both; centering that is close but not quite precise enough for GEM MINT consideration, though the point is moot due to a slight bit of wax that necessitates an (ST) qualifier. But with the current price of MINT and GEM MINT items well out of reach for most collectors and examples of this grade quickly following suit, now is a good time to lock down this impressive example.
