Not even the arrival of Michael Jordan on the NBA scene was received with as much pomp and circumstance afforded to Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, known in those days as Lew Alcindor. After a stellar three-year career at U.C.L.A., which included averaging 26.4 points per game and an NCAA record 63.9% field goal percentage while leading the Bruins to three straight NCAA Championships, the 7'1" Alcindor turned pro by signing an estimated five year, $1.25 million dollar contract, unprecedented for its day! At that pay grade, anything short of Wilt Chamberlain dominance would be considered a disappointment. However, the future Kareem Abdul-Jabbar would live up to the hype and end his career as the NBA's All-Time leading point scorer. Presented is a 1969-1970 Lew Alcindor rookie card, a handsome tall-boy specimen that, like Alcindor, will not disappoint! Graded BVG 7.5 NM+, this beauty has three grade superior corners with a clean white surface and sufficient centering. The reverse is equally problem-free. Stunning!
1969-70 Topps #25 Lew Alcindor BVG 7.5 NM+
