One of the greatest catchers in baseball history, three-time National League MVP Roy Campanella still had a few good years left in the tank but had his career cut short by a tragic car accident in January of 1958 that left him paralyzed. Confined to a wheelchair until his death in 1993, "Campy" continued to promote the sport as a community relations representative of the Dodgers, and while his once harmonious autograph was a mere shadow of its former self, Campanella still found a way to oblige a fan with a signature. The featured Spalding Official Little League baseball was signed by Campanella on a side panel in black ink, a rare piece as it was signed prior to the accident, when Campy was the darling of New York City. This is a truly amazing collectible that displays so well and honors a baseball icon whose career never reached its full life. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
