Playing alongside fellow Hall of Famer Satchel Paige, Hilton Smith spent 13 seasons in the Negro League and was often utilized is a complement to the great Paige, with Satchel tossing the first three innings and Smith coming in to take over for the final six. Though statistics weren't accurately compiled from game to game, Hilton Smith is credited with an overall win percentage of about 70% with a career ERA of approximately 1.68, tossing a no-hitter in 1937 against the Chicago American Giants, and was also a .320 lifetime hitter.
