Arguably one of the best nicknames in all of sports, James "Cool Papa" Bell came into the Negro Leagues as a pitcher with a solid knuckleball, but soon switched to the outfield and concentrated on hitting and making use of his extraordinary speed. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Negro Leagues committee in 1974.
