After issuing cards in two different sizes in 1952, Bowman stuck with just the larger format the following year, releasing a set that would prove to be extremely challenging in high grade. The offered PSA 8 NM/MT example of Vito "Babe" Parilli is bested by just three others, two by a mere half-point and one at the MINT 9 level. That there are no GEM MINT 10s on record is not surprising when one considers that there are only 2 (2!) listed on the entire pop report from a total of 10,848 submissions. This one displays with light factory rough cuts along both the horizontal top and bottom, with a bold, deeply saturated backdrop and clean, white borders. A must-have for any advanced set builder!
