Sturdy NM or better corners that stand at the entry point of NM/MT assessment join seemingly superior edges that appear MINT from the front but display some NM contours on the reverse, the only apparent NM feature throughout. The centering is very accurate for the issue, while the image is both bold and accurate with some subtle NM/MT imperfections, at worst. Why "Biscuit Pants" you ask? By all accounts, Gehrig earned this rather unappealing nickname in his freshman season with the Yankees when teammates, as a part of the rookie "hazing" ritual, poked fun at his unusually puffy pants hiding his even more unusually puffy rear-end, an iron "puffiness" that was, no doubt, the core source of his tremendous strength and durability. Gehrig's dignified performance on the diamond would of course eventually earn him more flattering handles, but even in Hollywood his unnatural size was considered uncommon and unappealing for the period. Retold by Jonathan Eig in his acclaimed Gehrig biography, Luckiest Man, when Lou tried out for the role of Tarzan, the producers concurred that the sight of his massive thighs would repulse rather than attract women. My how times have changed! The featured pasteboard is at the top end of the grade and is of exceptional appearance and thus worthy of our recommendation.
