The 1959 Topps set is short on significant rookie cards but what it lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality with the debut of Hall of Fame hurler Bob Gibson. While it is generally accepted that Bob Gibson was one of the toughest competitors ever on the mound, it's a bit ironic that his rookie card is adorned with a soft pink backdrop! Each of the four corners presents at least NM/MT with the bottom left making a push for GEM MINT. The surface of the card is gleaming underneath a scintillating layer of gloss while the white back reverse shows mild toning but no significant liabilities. A very key rookie card from the 1950s.
