Revered as one of the most prolific minds of his time, Mark Twain (A. K. A. Samuel Langhorne Clemens) was also lauded as the greatest humorist that was ever produced in the United States. His novels Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn are considered some of the greatest literary works of the 19th century and his humorous story, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, was published in 1865 and translated in several languages. His unbridled wit and biting satire brought both praise and ire from critics, though few would deny his genius. The featured piece is an incredible homage to the iconic writer and poet and features various artists depictions of "Mark Twain"(a Mississippi River term that measured depth at two fathoms or twelve feet; a safe depth for the steamboat) and a signature from Albert Bigelow Paine, a noted writer who worked for many years with Twain. Across from Paine's signature is a stunning fountain pen autograph, all in Twain's hand, reading "S. L. Clemens Mark Twain." The framed piece measures approximately 24" x 30" and the signatures are authenticated by PSA/DNA and JSA. An incredible piece of Americana, courtesy of possibly the greatest American writer of all-time!
