Even though "The Commerce Comet's" career was winding down and the Mick was no longer the superstar sensation that led the Yankees to numerous titles in the 1950s, every wanna be pinstriper was still begging their parents for a Mickey Mantle model glove. Well here's a Rawlings model XPG26 glove that must have been in a time capsule for over a half-century because the glove and the box and virtually perfect. Mantle's facsimile signature appears in the pocket and the glove has never been used. The Rawlings display box has "MICKEY MANTLE FIELDERS GLOVE XPG26" in red letters on the side, suggesting it was sold before Mantle made the move to first base in 1967.
