An ace pitcher for 18 major league seasons, Billy Pierce reached the 20-win mark twice in his career and led the American League in complete games for three consecutive seasons. His career 211-169 record is not quite Hall of Fame material but it is pretty darn good. The featured jersey is a throwback to the golden age of baseball when Mickey Mantle was emerging as a superstar, and Sandy Koufax was just entering the league. This game-used road flannel jersey is from Pierce's 1955 season when he tossed a league-leading 1.97 ERA with 15 victories. The jersey has a MacGregor label with a team stitched "Pierce" swatch inside the collar. A "set 2 1955" flag is inside the seam and Pierce has signed the jersey with an inscription "Led A. L. in ERA 1.95 in 1955." The jersey shows moderate to heavy wear and comes with an autographed 8 x 10 photo that has an inscription "7x all-star" and is authenticated by Mounted memories. LOA from Mile High Card Company.
