Graded FR 1.5 by SGC. Issued at a time when this size of card was absolutely not the norm. The featured item rates among the most elusive in the Ty Cobb anthology, a 1912 T227 Series of Champions card of "The Georgia Peach." Part of a 24-card collection that features golfers, boxers, motorboat racers and the like, Ty Cobb and three other diamond greats (Home Run Baker, Chief Bender and Rube Marquard) were included in an oversized assemblage (compared to the standard tobacco cards of the time) that predated the Sport Kings set by over 20 years. Though graded SGC 20 FAIR 1.5, the brightly colored prize presents far better with expert centering and above-grade corners offsetting the light creases that run across the surface from the top to the bottom edge. . A rare card that offers a balance between eye-appeal and affordability.
