Graded NM/MT 8 by PSA. The 1912 T202 Hassan Triple Folder collection features “The Georgia Peach” on five of the 132 issues comprising the complete set. That would certainly make the Hassan series extremely popular with collectors, but another reason is that the Cobb card is an almost exact reproduction of the classic image found on the popular T205 Gold Border issue from the previous year. Offered is one of the finest surviving examples of the various Cobb issues from the T202 set, a high-end PSA NM/MT 8 that is matched by just 6 others with none graded higher. Due to the nature of the issue, with its two foldable side portraits that flank the large black and white action shot in the center, many T202 examples look better than the assessed grade but never reach the upper limits of the grading scale due to visible fold lines that came about by collectors who used them for the intended purpose. The featured card has avoided all of that. Joined with Detroit teammate Chas. O'Leary, the offered specimen boasts near-perfect centering, precise registration, NM/MT corners and edges, a particularly clean reverse, and a bold front surface. A tremendously rare opportunity to acquire one of the crown jewels of a prominent and extremely condition-sensitive tobacco issue.
