The set that brought baseball cards back into the mainstream of the post-war era, the 1948 Bowman set is a very simplistic yet endearing issue of cards marking Bowman Gum Co.'s foray into the sports card business. The following collection of 77 cards includes 40 of the 48 cards in the complete set (missing #7, 14, 15, 26, 29, 30, 36 Musial, and 40), mostly EX to NM with some lower or higher but most if not all appear to be sheet cut outside of the factory. Appearances of key cards are #1 Elliot EX, 3 Kiner EX/MT, 4 Mize NM, 5 Feller NM (OC), 6 Berra EX+, 8 Rizzuto GOOD+ (MC), 17 Slaughter EX, 18 Spahn NM+, 38 Schoendienst NM, and 47 Thomson NM+. Among the key cards in the extras, mostly VG/EX to EX/MT but also appearing to be sheet cut, are (2) #4 Mize EX/MT, and 47 Thomson EX/MT.
