Contrary to popular belief, the gray borders of the 1970 Topps baseball set are just as susceptible to chipping as the black-bordered set produced the next year. Even without taking that into account, the massive size of the '70 release, which was increased in number yet again from the previous year to a whopping 720 subjects, is enough to scare many a collector away from the challenge of assembling a complete set. But not the builder of this collection, an assemblage that contains 24 PSA graded cards as follows: PSA 9 MINT - #83, 270, 349, and 492. PSA 8 - #16, 116, 154, 166 (MC), 291 Durocher, 300 Seaver, 352, and 714. PSA 7 - #119, 210 Marichal, 228, 423, and 565 Hunter.PSA 6 - #71, 140 R. Jackson, and 330 Brock. PSA 5 - #189 Munson RC, 600 Mays, and 622 Sutton. PSA 4 - #350 Clemente. The rest of the set is 15% EX or better, 40% VG/EX, 35% VG and 10% lower with #1 World Champions VG, 10 Yastrzemski VG, 150 Killebrew VG/EX (MK), 220 Carlton VG, 230 B. Robinson VG/EX, 290 Carew VG/EX, 500 Aaron VG/EX, 630 Banks GOOD, and 712 Ryan NM (MK).
