While an argument can be made for Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, or Walter Payton, it's Cleveland's Jim Brown that tops the list of most experts as the greatest running back in NFL history. At 6'2" and 232 lbs., his combination of power and speed was unmatched during his era and he would be considered a large running back by today's standards. Brown led the NFL in rushing yards in eight of his nine NFL seasons and topped the league in rushing touchdowns five times. His 1958 Topps rookie card is one of the most desirable gridiron pasteboards in the hobby, comparing with the '52 Topps Mantle as the most coveted post-war card of its sport. The offered example delivers solid centering that is superior to most for this issue without the usual tilt or diamond cut. Brown's image is bold and crisp, and the black background is deep and rich. The endpoints are well within the boundaries of NM/MT qualifications if not just a slight bit better, while the same can be said for the brightly colored reverse. A hallmark card of any advanced football card collection.
