While it's easy to make the case that Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, or Walter Payton were among the greatest runners in NFL history, it was Cleveland's Jim Brown that tops the list. The combination of power and speed was unmatched during his era, and their is no doubt among football experts that Brown would have been special playing in today's game. Because of Brown's prowess on the gridiron, his 1958 Topps rookie card has become one of the most desirable football cards in the hobby and compares with the '52 Topps Mantle as the most coveted post-war card of its sport. The offered example delivers almost perfect centering, very rare for this issue, exhibiting no tilt or diamond cut. Brown's image is bold and crisp, and the black background is deep and rich. The reverse has very minor and forgivable chipping along the top and bottom horizontal edge. This beauty is better than many of its graded peers, and after all, you can't go wrong with having a Jim Brown rookie as a highlight of your collection!
