With all due respect to Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders and Walter Payton, Cleveland's Jim Brown was likely the greatest running back of all time, which is why his 1958 Topps rookie card is as important to football card collectors as the '52 Topps Mantle is to baseball card collectors. This is a superb example, with above-grade corners that offset the almost obligatory centering preference toward the left side. Brown's image is bold and crisp, and the black background is deep and rich. The reverse has very minor chipping along the bottom edge. But you certainly can't go wrong having this Jim Brown rookie as a highlight of your collection.
