From the challenging low-number series, this high-end example of "Buckfoot Al's" stimulating 1933 Goudey issue is currently the one and only specimen on record at PSA 8.5 NM/MT+ with just three superior examples at the MINT level. Bold layers of orange, yellow, green, and purple pastels provide the backdrop to a powerfully and near perfectly registered image of Simmons. The MINT surface shows no prominent imperfections and compliments the clean design of the card. The edges appear predominantly MINT as well, while the corners show precise points at all confluences but the bottom right, which shows the softest imaginable touch, arguably the only NM/MT+ feature to be found on this otherwise MINT masterpiece. Of most importance to advanced Goudey collectors, however, the ever-difficult centering appears PRISTINE on both surfaces, providing a brilliant, bone-white and equidistant frame around a factory fresh surface with booming colors.
