With major superstars such as Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Duke Snider and Gil Hodges in the lineup, it has always been Pee Wee Reese who was considered the glue of those great Brooklyn Dodger squads. From putting his arm around Jackie during the 1947 season to bringing consistency to the Dodgers year after year, Reese showed why he was a Hall of Fame ballplayer. During his 13 full seasons as the Dodgers shortstop, Reese finished in the Top 10 of the N.L. MVP voting 8 times! That is quite an accomplishment for the diminutive Reese, and shows how the game of baseball was perceived back in the 1940's and 50's. After missing THREE full seasons to the War, Pee Wee still collected 2,170 career hits. Reese was such a popular and respected player that it was he and not the manager who usually brought the Dodgers lineup card out to home plate. This card is very well centered, with light touches to the four square corners. Accurately graded and highly desirable 1952 Topps high number, enhanced by its overall well centered eye appeal.
1952 Topps #333 Pee Wee Reese PSA 7 NM
