The Sporting Life newspaper issued 13" x 14" team composites from the years 1902 through 1910. All composites were printed on heavy enamel paper and sold for 6 cents worth of stamps, or 50 cents for a dozen prints. The composites feature player portraits surrounding a centered portrait of the teams manager. The 1902 composites feature both the American and National League champions, plus nine minor league teams. This Philadelphia Athletics' composite features Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack (a young Mack) in the center, with Hall of Fame pitchers Eddie Plank and Rube Waddell among the 15 players. Although the composite reads "American League Champions for 1903" this print was issued in 1902, the actual year that Philadelphia won the American League Championship. This composite displays in Near Mint shape, matted and framed to a size of 16" x 16," ready for immediate display.
