An extremely large and bold vintage photograph of the World Champion New York Yankees team. Measuring 12.5" x 17," this photo was taken in an empty Yankee Stadium and reveals the players in their lighter moments. By the appearance on many of the players faces, someone behind the camera said something funny. It is amazing the amount of great players which part of this team including Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, Johnny Mize, Hank Bauer, Gil McDougald, Casey Stengel (manager), Bill Dickey (coach), Charley Keller, Billy Martin and Allie Reynolds. In that fantastic seven-game World Series win over the Brooklyn Dodgers, the last two players, both Martin and Reynolds were heroes. During that great 7th game, the Yankee were up 4-2, there was one out and the bases were loaded with Bums. Stengel brings in left handed pitcher Bob Kuzava to face the left handed hitting Duke Snider. After Snider pops up, Jackie Robinson comes to the plate and hits a small pop up in the middle of the infield. No one appeared to take control of the play until Martin came racing in from second base and snares the ball just before it hits the ground. With all the runners moving, three runs could have scored on that play, and the Series would have drastically changed. Kuzava ended up going the last three innings and getting the save in that Game 7. The winning pitcher of that Game 7 was Reynolds, who appeared in four of the seven games. Reynolds started and lost a tough Game 1, came back on three days to throw a complete game shutout in Game 4. He then comes in the 8th inning of Game 6 to get the save, then a day after that, goes three innings in relief in Game 7. No need for innings limits when its the World Series. This magnificent photo has a crisp image, but has some light edge discoloration, a pinhole in the top border and a few creases in the upper and lower right corners. However, these faults can be matted out during framing and display. Accompanying this photo is a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA indicating this is a Type 1 - 1st Generation Original Photograph.
