If you collect helmets, here's a classic gamer of historical significance that will be in the forefront of your esteemed collection. Straight from the "Steel Curtain" days of the 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers comes this incredible game-used helmet, worn by one of the most beloved players of the era, running back Rocky Bleier. The helmet is a Riddell made black impregnated TK-2 shell with 12-point interior padding suspension system. The medium size shell, Bleier's size, features Bleiers "20" straddling the center yellow stripe on the front and back, with full cage (one of two styles Bleier preferred) and original double low hookup chinstrap and original clips with one cracked. Below the front numbers is the “RIDDELL” label in all caps, which Bleier wore in the mid 70s only, with NOC SAE sticker and time clock indicating 2Q 1974, the year of the Steelers first Super Bowl Championship. The inner shell is complete and shows excellent wear. On the entire left side of the helmet, Bleier has magnificently inscribed, “To Bobby & Pat, My mid 70s gamer. You preserved it well. Rocky Bleier #20.” Overall, the helmet shows solid and consistent wear inside and out and was sourced from former AFC equipment managers (Bobby & Pat formerly worked with the Miami Dolphins), who obtained it directly from the Pittsburgh Steelers in the late 1970s. LOA from Lou Lampson, PSA/DNA, Mile High Card Co.
