The persona of an NHL goalie is epitomized by the intricate design of his trademark goalie mask. NHL teams spend thousands of dollars while their netminder creates a design that signifies who they are, and who stands in the way of glory for a would-be scorer. Presented is a stunning, game-used goaltender’s mask of 13-year NHL veteran Felix Potvin, worn during the 1993 season when, at age 22, Potvin finished 5th in the NHL with 34 wins. The helmet exhibits nice game use, with several scrapes, especially along the white face mask, and a paint chip on the top, no doubt from contact with a high slap-shot. The outer design features Maple Leaf logos on the sides, and a fanged feline at the top, signifying Potvins’ moniker of “Felix the Cat.” The back head support and chin strap are labeled by manufacturer “Eddy Masks”, with “E-18-3-93” entered inside the mask in black marker. LOA from Mile High Card Co.
