Ty Cobb certainly had his trademarks. On the field, he would always play extremely hard, often to the point of aggravating opposing players. Off the field, he would get into scraps, sometimes going after fans in the stands. Financially, he always invested wisely and ended up making a fortune. But Cobb's biggest trademark was when he wrote anything, he would almost always use a green ink pen. This offered item is a wonderfully signed personal check. The elongated check is drawn upon the Cobb familiar First National Bank of Nevada, with the pre-printed TYRUS R. COBB along the left side. Dated April 8, 1952, the check is made out to "Cash" and is for the amount of $100. It is beautifully signed "Tyrus R. Cobb." By reviewing the reverse we know who the check was given. The endorsement is signed "Frances F. Cobb," who was Ty's second wife. The check has the usual puncture cancellation, and various bank stamps on the verso. None of these affect the awesome signature. There is also a vertical crease down the middle, mentioned for the sake of accuracy which does not alter the beauty of this item. Certified and signature graded by PSA/DNA GEM MINT 10. One of the nicest Cobb checks you can find.
