Initially regarded as little more than an unusual and even unwanted gimmick when issued as inserts into 1969 Topps football nickel packs, the 4 in 1 cards have recently experienced burgeoning popularity as collectors realize how difficult the perforated punchouts can be in high grade. The offered set consists of upper-end examples of the previously brushed-aside inserts, in overall high-grade and including several PSA-graded specimens. There are three PSA 9 MINT cards, each featuring a Hall of Famer ( Charley Taylor, Bobby Bell and Herb Adderly), six PSA 8 NM/MT cards including Nitschke, Dawson, Blanda, and Namath, and four specimens in NM 7 holders including Piccolo, Starr, Leroy Kelly, Sayers, LeBeau, and Meredith. The ungraded portion of the set grades approximately 30% NM/MT, 50% NM and 20% EX/MT or lesser, including Tarkenton NM, Unitas EX/MT+, Lilly NM, Wood NM, Alworth NM, and Butkus NM+.
