A fabulous four-quadrant Type 1 First Generation "International News" photo of Hall of Famer pitcher Bob Lemon. This photo is stamped July 6, 1948, the usual summer swoon time for teams in a pennant race, but not that year in Cleveland. In 1948, the Indians won the American League with a 97-58 record, taking their first World Series title in almost thirty years over the "Span and Sain" Boston Braves. Lemon won two games in that Series, including the victory in the Game 6 clincher. The "photo" shows the Lemon pitching motion, one good enough to win him 20+ games in a season seven times. It sizes to an unusual 7" x 11" with the verso having the "International News" credit stamp, the "July 6, 1948" date stamp and a newspaper cutout in the Spanish language. There are more than the usual amount of crazing and a few creases. Authenticated by PSA/DNA as a Type 1 First Generation photograph, from a key season for the subject.
