It is widely acknowledged among baseball historians and enthusiasts alike that Philadelphia Phillies slugger Michael Jack Schmidt was the greatest third baseman ever to play the game. Schmidt was voted National League MVP three times, was a 12-time All-Star, and received more votes than any other third baseman for 1999's Major League Baseball All-Century Team. In all, Schmidt clouted 548 career home runs, leading the National League 8 times in homers, while topping the 30 home run 13 times in 18 seasons. Schmidt was as good with the leather as he was with the lumber, winning ten Gold Glove Awards, including nine consecutively from 1976-1984.

Up for bidding is this game-used Mike Schmidt jersey, worn during the 1988 Philadelphia Phillies season, Schmidt’s last as a full-time starter. Inside the back collar is the appropriate Rawlings size 46 label with Major League Baseball logo, team stitched “SCHMIDT” and flagged “SET 1 1988.” The jersey exhibits amazing game use, with embedded infield dirt and others stains throughout, no doubt from the plethora of amazing defensive plays at the hot corner. LOA from Grey Flannel, Mile High Card Co.
