The very scarce 13-card 1961-1962 Kahn's Weiners basketball set features twelve members of the Cincinnati Royals in addition to Los Angeles Lakers star Jerry West. Similar to the baseball regional food issues of the 1950's, one card was issued with each package of Kahn's meats. Because of the product with which they were packaged, heavy grease stains and creases are common with this issue, making it very difficult to assemble a high-grade set. Despite the fact that West was not part of the Cincinnati Royals team, he was a local product, having grown up across the river in West Virginia. Includes: PSA NM-MT 8 - 3 cards w/Buckhalter, Embry, and Twyman; PSA NM 7 - 7 cards w/Bockhorn, Boozer, Nordmann, Reed, Smith, Wieseharn and Coach Wolf; PSA EX-MT 6 - 2 cards w/Oscar Robertson and Zeller (MK); PSA PR-FR 1 - Jerry West. The West card was downgraded due to several creases and the typical product staining on the reverse. All the other cards have zero to minimal staining. A very difficult issue to find individual examples, let alone a complete set. Buy this set and you would already be #2 on the PSA set registry.
***ADDENDUM*** This set was recently registered with PSA and is the #3 All-Time finest set and #1 Current finest set.
