Up for grabs is a pop chart-topping example of the C. Phillippe/G. Gibson "Donlin Out at First" Triple Folders issue. Also known as Deacon Phillippe, the control conscious pitcher was the pitching hero for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first World Series in 1903, winning three games. Graded PSA 8 NM/MT with just 4 competitors in its class and none higher at PSA, this is an unusually near perfectly centered example. Exhibits NM/MT corners joining unusually straight MINT edges, highly unusual for the issue. The reverse is completely devoid of any unsightly tobacco stains, and the registration of the lithographic layers of the obverse is very both. This example is recommended for collectors attuned to fine centering, rarely encountered on T202s. If you do not yet have a PSA 8, this is for you; but if you already do have a PSA 8 example of this card, our offered specimen is STILL an upgrade.
