Graded by Global Authority GAI MINT 9. The 1959 season was pivotal to the then 24 year old Roger Maris. He put together his second straight productive season, catching the eye of the New York Yankees, and was then traded from the Kansas City A's (his second trade in less than a year), to the New York Yankees. The Yankees management thought Maris' left handed swing would produce even more power with the Yankee Stadium short right field porch. They were correct as Maris put together back-to-back MVP seasons, and hit 61 home runs in 1961. He was also a great defensive outfielder, often playing center field when Mickey Mantle was injured. This card is superb with near perfect centering, four sharp corners, pure white borders framing a deep burnt orange color. Many times the 1959's have blurry photos, but his example is perfect in its detail. The clean reverse is similarly centered. Perfect MINT condition, designated GAI MINT 9.
