One of the rarest of all early 1950's regional sets, these cards were issued with Stahl-Meyer brand hot dogs, one card per package, and were only available in the New York area. Featuring stars from the three New York teams, the cards were issued with rounded corners, so the "corners" would not puncture the packaging. The cards contain a heavy wax coating to protect the cards from being ruined by the hot dogs with which they were packaged. These cards are extremely rare, and most known examples are in lower grade. In fact, there are only 30 examples graded by PSA, and except for a sole unissued Mays at PSA MINT 9, the highest grade given is an EX 5. This example of Willie Mays is, of course, low grade, assigned a POOR 1, with multiple creases and the typical staining. This is a great card for the Mays or Type collector.
