Inaugural-class Hall of Famer Walter Johnson occupies the front of this T201 Mecca offering, displaying in dramatic color and detail not often seen in this lithographic production. Framed by stalwart NM/MT corners and edges, the surface image features the “Big Train” in near 3-D effect contrasting with the subtle yet well-defined background colors. When folded over, Charles Street becomes the recipient of the lower appendages, but that’s not likely to happen anytime soon now that the card resides in a PSA 8 NM/MT holder. Add a boldly-printed and adequately centered statistics box found on the reverse and it’s easy to see why this one is one of just 8 to attain NM/MT status with just a single copy graded fractionally higher.
