With only four different cards of Satchel Paige ever printed during his major league playing days, whenever a high grade example is offered, it demands immediate respect. There is one exhibit card, one Leaf card, one Topps card and the one Bowman issue. This 1949 Bowman card is highly desirable, and this example is top notch. If this card was in a NM-MT 8 holder, not one collector would complain. The card has four solidly square corners, near perfect centering, a rich pastel green background and deep, bold color in Paige's cap and uniform. Very eye appealing! The registry is perfect,while the reverse is brilliantly struck with the same deep color of print exhibited on the obverse. The natural vertical cuts on this card are so impressive and thoroughly make this example. An absolutely killer card, graded at SGC 86 NM+ 7.5, but displays higher.
