New York baseball is full of heroes who patrolled center field. Names like Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Joe DiMaggio permeate our conscious with images of stardom and grace. One player overlooked during the heyday of the 1950's is Edwin "Duke" Snider, affectionately known as the "Duke of Flatbush." The Duke proceeded to wallop 40+ home runs five straight seasons form 1953-1957, and helped lead Brooklyn to their only World Series title in 1955. Duke provided his usual by slugging five homers in that seven game classic. This black backed version of the ultra-popular 1952 Topps card reveals a crystal clear image of Snider's powerful left handed swing. The color is bold and the reverse is a well struck version of the Sy Berger bio and statistics. This card will make a nice addition to your 1952 Topps set.
