A New York area sports channel is holding weekly symposiums to determine who the best New York baseball players were at each position. Normally a Hall of Fame catcher would get higher respect, but Bill Dickey is usually overlooked as one of New York's finest. Dickey was a tremendous player but was just as good a coach, as was his role in 1952 when he posed for this card. Well before Joe Girardi tutored current Yankee catcher Jorge Posada, Dickey took Yogi Berra under his wing after. The strong example of the high number 1952 card has four square corners and a blemish free obverse. Clean white borders surround a bold, spectacularly colored image. A strong example of a PSA NM 7 1952 Topps card. Very light gum on the reverse.
