The Look ‘N See set remains one of the classic novelty sets of the post-war era, and is highly popular among non-sports collectors to this day. The card fronts are reminiscent of the groundbreaking baseball set also issued by Topps that same year, with oversized portrait photos contained within a thin black frame separating them from the borders, and a yellow-framed name box at the bottom. The card reverses were designed to mimic the “Isolation Booth” and “X-Ray Roundup” sets of the previous year, with a deliberately illegible answer to a posed question that could be revealed by placing a thin, red plastic strip over the question. The tendered set has been painstakingly assembled by our consignor, and sits in the number 3 spot on both the current and all-time finest Set Registry lists. Highlighted by the Babe Ruth card in a MINT 9 holder, which is one of only 2 in the grade with none higher, the set boasts an overall GPA of 7.76 and included six cards that are one of one with none higher, and a total of 22 unqualified MINT 9 specimens. Please refer to the PSA set registry for a complete breakdown of this tremendous set, or to the lot description in our auction software.
