The 1954 Wilson Franks set is one of the most difficult and cherished regional issues in our entire hobby, with two major stumbling blocks quite often preventing high-grade assessments. The first, of course, is staining from the meat that was in direct contact with the pasteboards. The second is centering, which is often atrocious and is accentuated by the narrow borders of the cards. The offered example of HOFer Nellie Fox has been graded EX/MT 6 by PSA, with at- or above-grade corners and very, very minimal evidence of staining.
