Prominently displayed on this 1951 Bowman rookie card is the signature of Hall of Fame second baseman Nellie Fox. Not known to be a prolific signer as a player, Fox's untimely death due to skin cancer at age 48 made his autograph one of the most elusive of any post-war Hall of Famer, especially on baseball cards. Boldly penned below his Bowman created likeness, the blue ball point pen signature clearly reads "Nelson Fox", as he had dropped his given first name, Jacob, for the more preferable middle name of Nelson, and is JSA authenticated. Indeed, this is a very rare specimen!
