Shown here as a fireballer for the Boston Red Sox, long before his "Black Sox" days, Cicotte was just beginning a great career that would abruptly end in 1920 after consecutive 20-win seasons. A tremendous pitcher who won over 200 games, Cicotte used a deceptive delivery and flaunted his "stuff" to become one of the greatest of his time. The offered E95 Philadelphia Caramel Ed Cicotte card, graded PSA 5 EX, has no problem flaunting its stuff as well, with a perfectly centered image and three EX/MT corners joining one astonishing NM/MT corner and a brilliantly white perimeter. If not for a few apparent chips on the blood-red backdrop, this specimen would have received a higher designation from PSA.
