Graded EX/NM 80(6) by SGC. The featured collectible hails from one of the more elusive and eclectic issues of the early part of the century. Mello-Mint was a Texas based confectioner who produced a gum by the same name. The set of fifty cards shares the same checklist and artwork with the better known E101 issue. Mello-Mint cards are slightly smaller than the aforementioned release and measure 1-3/8" x 2-5/8" and are printed on a much thinner stock making them very susceptible to increased wear as well many of the cards were actually folded to get them to fit into the package. Presented is a truly outstanding example that happens to be the finest Mello-Mint example we have ever offered. Graded EX/NM by the conservative East Coast based grading company, SGC hails this exciting example of Cy Young. Four strong upper end corners that each approach NM preside over this scarce relic and have seemingly acted as a repellent to wear over the last 100 years. The interior of the card is an attention commanding burnt orange that acts as a regal backdrop to the Hall Of Fame hurler who is perfectly registered in his appearance. The centering while astute on a right to left basis does show an angular cut from to to bottom as the card appears to be quite a bit oversized in its dimensions assuring all of its completely unaltered status. The reverse offers an impressive advertisement for the previously mentioned chewing gum with nary a stray bit of ink or a stain apparent. The tendered pasteboard is the one and only example that has been graded by SGC at the opined level of EX/NM 80(6) and is the highest graded copy on record. A superior collectible offered at the very top of its grading tier that features a front line Hall Of Famer, that sounds pretty good, doesn't it?
