Superb First Generation photograph of the last out of the 1937 World Series, won by the New York Yankees four games to one over the New York Giants. On this play, the ball was hit to Lou Gehrig who flipped to pitcher Lefty Gomez covering first base. While Gomez is looking back at the umpires call, Gehrig is all smiles knowing the Series has been won. This 6.5" x 8.5" photo has the International News Photos stamp on the verso. The photo exhibits tape along both vertical edges, with the photo appearing to have been taped into a scrapbook. There is not damage from the removal, but the tape remains. These taped edges and most of the the upper right corner creasing can be matted out upon display. Letter of Authenticity from PSA indicating this is a Type 1 First Generation photograph.
