This Type 1 original First Generation photograph features together two characters, superstar player Babe Ruth and his manager Miller Huggins. The attached caption on the verso reads "The Big Boy and the Little Fellow of the Yankees." The photo celebrates the arrival of Ruth to Spring Training in 1929, with Ruth smiling and Huggins appearing to chuckle. This was a rare occurrence as Ruth and Hug had their share of rhubarbs, sometimes resulting from Ruth not coming to Spring Training on time. Another reason for the smiles is that entering the 1929 season, the Yankees were coming off back-to-back World Series titles, clean 4-0 sweeps both times. Late that season, their would be no smiles, as the baseball world lost the Mighty Might Huggins, who died September 25, 1929. This 6" x 8" photo has "Acme Newspictures" stamp on the verso with the date "Jan 12, 29" also stamped. The photo is in excellent condition, with no creases or crazing of any kind.
