Presented is a spectacular Type 1 first generation 1948 Brooklyn Dodgers team photo. This 8" x 10" photo has crystal clear registration and clarity. It features a 26 year old Roy Campanella, his first year in the majors, a 21 year old outfielder named Duke Snider and, of course, Jackie Robinson in his second major league season. Other stars include Gil Hodges, Preacher Roe, Carl Furillo and Pee Wee Reese. The photo was likely taken some time during the second half of the season as long time Dodgers manager Leo Durocher is not in the photo. Durocher's antics were not tolerated anymore by Branch Rickey, and after 72 games, a deal was made where Durocher was let out of his Dodgers contract to become manager of the cross town rival New York Giants. The photo is in superb condition, with only a few crinkles apparent, and mentioned for the sake of accuracy. Along the large bottom border is imprinted the name of "Bill Greene." Greene was a Dodgers team photographer during the 1930's and 1940's. His photos are very well known among Brooklyn Dodger collectors. Letter of Authenticity from PSA indicating this is a Type 1 First Generation photograph.
