Published exclusively by Louis Dormand, a Long Island photographer who desired to honor fan requests for photos and autographs of particular players from the Yankees, Dodgers, White Sox and Athletics, the Dormand postcards featured borderless full-color Kodachrome photographs along with a facsimile autograph. Along with the standard postcard-sized issues, there exist a relatively scarce number “Giant” oversized versions of Mantle’s and Rizzuto’s cards, measuring a whopping 9” x 12” and, incredibly, presenting with the same degree of color and clarity as the standard sized versions. Offered here is one such oversized example of “The Mick,” featuring the young slugger in a larger-than-life pose and absolutely ready for framing or some other means of display. These mammoth issues are obviously too large to be slabbed by any of the major grading companies, but I have to believe this example would grade NM/MT, with the only significant touch appearing at the lower right corner.
