The O-Pee-Chee cards are so awesome that they combine the best qualities of Topps and Bowman cards. With the Topps issues, O-Pee-Chee captures the same quality photography, but the O-Pee-Chee machine cuts mirror the grandest Bowman quality to expert proportions. This 1971 O-Pee-Chee example of Nolan Ryan has all the earmarks of the highest quality. The four subtle rough edges perfectly border the nighttime black of the border. These edges were caused by the process of cutting these sheets with wires (not blades), which were brought down through several dozen sheets at a time. That a 1971 O-Pee-Chee card can withstand that trauma and still look this good, is virtually amazing. The black borders are equidistant from the slim white border surrounding the crisp photo. The four corners are all black, coming to the sharpest points. The yellow-gold reverse is near perfectly centered with perfect print and no chipping. This example is one of 7 copies graded PSA MINT 9 with only two higher! As with the other high grade Nolan Ryan cards within this auction, this example is sure to get tons of play.
